Nigeria Retail Real Estate Market Size in H1:2021

The Nigerian retail real estate market recovered from post-pandemic crisis in H1:2021 with $1.667bn market value at 59.90% capital gains above H1:2019 value.

Majority of retail investments outperformed expectations with revenue growth stimulated by strong asset and balance sheet management policies; drop in the vacancy rate, improved cash flows, positive growth in recoveries and rent collections; and management of net operating expenses, capex and currency risk worries.

There are indications of positive growth outlook as we start to see retail sales picking up, drop in vacancy rates and challenges facing retail investment and occupier market gradually easing off.

Is this a retail comeback?
